The Basics of the Adoption Process

If a child’s parents are no longer able to adequately care for them or single motherhood is considered unacceptable, as is the case in some countries, then plans for adoption are made. Having a child who is ready for adoption in a foster home close to the new parents is the responsibility of the foster and adoption system. The Department of Social Services has been given instructions to allow more fostered children to be adopted and to provide more long term, structured plans for releasing fostered children to adoptive parents. Adoption costs can be very high and will depend on what organization you use but those couples committed to adoption should not let this influence their decision. There are a number of adoption agencies to choose from but ensure that their license is current with the state’s licensing office before you commit to them.
